Cordoba striker called up for the Mexican national team for the first time

This call-up comes after the player received his Mexican naturalization certificate in July, allowing him to represent El Tri.

The 25-year-old Cordoban footballer, Germán Berterame, born in Villa María, received exciting news in the last hours, which he was impatiently awaiting.

Following his acquisition of Mexican citizenship earlier this year, Berterame was selected to join the Mexican national team for the first time.

Javier Aguirre, El Tri’s coach, made the decision to include the Argentine striker who currently plays for Monterrey in Mexico.

In Argentina, Germán played for San Lorenzo (where he developed his skills), Patronato and Atlético San Luis.

He amassed a total of 65 goals and 11 assists in 184 matches in Liga MX, which allowed him to make that leap to the international stage.

It is worth noting that the Mexican national team coach has previously called up Argentine players such as Gabriel Caballero, Guillermo Franco and Matías Vuoso.

Formerly of Patronato, Berterame donned the Albiceleste jersey at youth level, participating in the South American Under-17 Championship in 2015 and the World Cup the same year.

Berterame will join the group for friendly matches against Valencia CF of Spain on Saturday 12 in Puebla, and against the United States on Tuesday 15 in Guadalajara.
