“I think we will have an honorable place in this Ligue 2”

In an interview with Corse Matin this Tuesday, president Claude Ferrandi discusses SC ’s honorable start to the season (12 points in 7 games) and several subjects, notably the search for an attacker or the club’s budget.

“We would have preferred to do even better, but I think it’s a good start. We have a new group of young players, we have to manage to create emulation. It’s a job of patience and self-sacrifice. […] I have no doubt that we will have a peaceful season. […] If we progress, we will have better passing times and I think we will have an honorable place in this Ligue 2.”

Despite a rather good record after seven days, the lack of an additional attacker is felt.

“If today we do not yet have this attacker, it is because the technical staff believes that at the moment, we have to take our time. We are looking for a player who can bring us something extra. The avenues are launched , we have to let a little time pass to attract attackers looking for playing time. We will do what we can.”

Financially, Sporting sold several players during the transfer window but had to deal with the drop in TV rights. “The scales are not yet balanced” according to Claude Ferrandi, who cites unforeseen expenses such as the severance pay for Régis Brouard and Frédéric Née last season.

“We also decided to make all trips by private flight, so again, several hundred thousand euros additional spent. Then, there was the recruitment of the brand new technical staff, without forgetting contract renewals and therefore , salary increases for certain players Despite everything, we invested €150,000 in the Borgo country club this summer.
