The PS5 encountered a problem that absolutely did not go unnoticed, especially in the United States, while another major problem is still ongoing and affects everyone.
The latest PS5 update brought real new features including 3D audio management and a more flexible user interface, finally with the possibility of changing the home background. A very nice firmware… but not without problems. Following the deployment, many games were unplayable and not the least. Elden Ring, Read Dead Redemption 2, No Man’s Sky, Diablo 4, Rocket League, Dragon Age Inquisition, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Final Fantasy 16, Metro: Last Light, Star Wars Outlaws, Horizon Forbidden West and Star Wars Jedi Survivor were in the list of broken titles.
A huge PS5 bug urgently corrected
Normally, you should be able to play the games mentioned on PS5 since Sony urgently released a new patch last week. But by updating the console’s user interface, the Japanese manufacturer has obviously introduced a huge bug that should never have been there. Which ? Inopportune and very inconspicuous advertisements displayed in the background of an application. For example, there were ads celebrating the good ratings and positive feedback for games such as FF7 Rebirth or the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the World Tree.
According to Daniel Hiatt, senior product manager at PlayStation, it was just a bug on PS5. « Everyone calm down. This is simply a (new) bug with an existing feature » he wrote on his X profile before deleting his post without explanation. The Ask PlayStation account also commented on this concern encountered by PS5 players. « A technical error regarding the “Official News” functionality on PS5 has been resolved. No changes have been made to the news display on PlayStation 5 ».
Real technical error or backpedaling after the Web and forums were inflamed by these advertisements? Difficult to say but the huge bug is now resolved. But this is only the beginning of the problems for the PS5 and PS4 community which is encountering another problem: the PSN outage. As of this morning, all services, with the exception of PlayStation Direct, are down. This therefore includes account management, access to the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Video as well as multiplayer or even games that require a mandatory connection. This is still in progress at the time of writing and everything may be back to normal by the time you read the article.
