A market favorable to buyers

Snowmobile enthusiasts who want to change their car or purchase a new snowmobile can now take advantage of a market that is favorable to buyers.

“We are currently experiencing a market for buyers,” explains Robert Gingras, general manager of Adrénaline Sports de Québec. BRP has made great discounts for the benefit of consumers. We have a lot of 2024s on hand and very few 2025s because our orders have been very limited. »

After rather difficult spring sales, buyers are there.

“Currently, we are seeing an upsurge in snowmobile sales. We sell several per week. Consumers can benefit from discounts and extended warranties, much like what usually happens in spring sales. We really feel that the craze is coming back. »

According to all those involved in the sector, this is a transitional year, which should allow us to return to normal.

“It is certain that people will not necessarily have the colors or all the equipment they are looking for on a snowmobile, given that this is a sale to sell off the models in hand. Dealers in general, regardless of the company, experience the same thing. We must return the situation to normal. We are encouraged by the reaction of enthusiasts who are buying now, probably stimulated by the drop in interest rates. »

HOPE FOR A NORMAL WINTER

With sales continuing throughout the summer, the CEO now hopes that winter will be there.

“Currently, our sales are better than usual because people did not buy their snowmobiles in the spring, as is often the case,” says Robert Gingras. I sincerely believe that the negative side of the last winter is starting to disappear and that snowmobilers have hope for the one that is coming.

“If we have a normal winter, which starts in the middle of December in many areas and lasts until the middle of March, we’re going to be in a ‘drive’. We have to hope that Mother Nature will cooperate. »

Dealer showrooms are now focused on snowmobiles. More and more consumers are coming to get prices on different models.

Many people who purchased snowmobiles at a high price during the pandemic, and who want to sell them now, are discovering a very disappointing reality in terms of sales prices.

“People often have the impression that they are going to sell their unit for the same price they paid for it, or close to it. Unfortunately, they are facing a very different reality as they make big losses, after paying too much during COVID. The reality is that the market is going down,” says the CEO.

“We must behave accordingly, offering prices that are adjusted to the market. Gone are the days when you had to overpay for used units. People understand. They know it when they come to us. »

If you want to get a 2025 model, you have to do it quickly because the quantities purchased by the various dealers have been much lower, given that sales had fallen in 2024.

In brief

GENEROUS HUNTERS COME BACK TO YOU

For a ninth season, the Quebec Federation of Hunters and Fishermen is calling on hunters for donations of game meat, as part of its Chasseurs Généreux campaign. Organizers hope to reach the magic number of 10,000 pounds in meat donations this fall. The quantities of meat collected are donated to food banks in Quebec. They redistribute this much appreciated quality venison to many families in need. Last year, 9,250 pounds of game meat were distributed, or 57,800 servings. To participate, you can go to one of the butchers recognized by the Federation.

BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPS, ENHANCED PROGRAM

Héritage Faune, the foundation of the Quebec Federation of Hunters and Fishermen, has just announced that from now on, the value of the Relève scholarships will increase from $1,000 to $1,500. These grants are available to member associations that want to organize hunting and fishing activities that promote the next generation, among young people, women and the uninitiated. The goal is to develop a succession of hunting and fishing professionals, in order to ensure the sustainability of these activities. Associations can offer introductions to hunting, hare snaring, fishing or even introductions to archery, crossbows and firearms.

NEW COMING ON THE MARKET

The Chinese company Aodes should present a new snowmobile this winter, the AlpineCross. This snowmobile is designed primarily for work. It is equipped with a 1000 cubic centimeter V-twin engine. It can carry two passengers and tow up to 680 kg of goods. Currently, it is in approval. If all goes well, you will be able to discover this new player at the Quebec Snowmobile and Quad Show, from November 8 to 10.
