Vic-en-Bigorre. At the Book Tour from yesterday to tomorrow

The 2024 edition of the Salon Au Tour du Livre in Vic, taking part in one of the European Heritage Days, demonstrated, if it were necessary, that literature is part of a living and perennial heritage.

After the previous stages at the Hôtel de Journet, a public building listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments (ISMH), and whose 18th century wood-panelled lounges formed one of the settings for the authors’ and publishers’ stands, return to this other site bears witness to a more recent history of local authorities, the multimedia center. In fact, a building with the Espace Claude-Miqueu on the ground floor, and a third place upstairs, the Atelier with a cinema and show room, the Ciné-Théâtre moved from the Octav to the Atelier , and plural services including the Comptoir-Jeunesse.

On the program for the 2024 show, beyond the tribute to Francis-Jammes, subject of the Prize awarded to each edition (we will come back to this), the associative team around president Magali Charron had organized literary meetings with authors, publishers , illustrators, cartoonists, etc., and in partnership, a film debate at the opening and a musical reading at the end around Magyd Cherfi (Zebda); to indicate that no less than 45 exhibiting participants welcomed some 300 visitors to the exhibition area and that among the authors around fifteen were new and that some, sometimes even regulars, have already booked for 2025, is a measure of success.
