Gold and silver half-moons: zoom on the beauty looks from the Loewe fashion show

On the day of the Loewe fashion show, if the models Loewe had the opportunity to admire the celebrities present at the parade via a screen backstage, the team of Pat McGrath had no time to waste, busy perfecting the beauty looks from the spring-summer 2025 collection of Jonathan Anderson. The latter, composed of diaphanous floral tunics, sequinned mini dresses and graphic T-shirts Édouard Manet et Johann Sebastian Bachplaces particular emphasis on curves and volumes, as explained Pat McGrath : “Jonathan Anderson told me he was going to do ‘modern couture’”. Result: the make-up artist chose to opt for sparkling eyes.

Pat McGrath pour Loewe

On two models, golden arcs extend along the brow bone and “repeat the half-moon eyes made in the early 90s on Karen Elson for Vogue”, explains to me Pat McGrath. “And then we made 8 silver eyes in the shape of wings. Sublime, isn’t it?” The artist is not wrong: the light is reflected perfectly in the silver glitter of the models’ makeup. To create this look, she “used the Luminous Legends: Mega Eye Shadow Palette” launched the same day. Golden Muse and Lunar Luxury pigments, in particular, were used for the graphic half-moons and bows, “with real glitter glued on top,” she adds. “And then we put a little bit of Fetisheyes mascara on the lashes to highlight them.” The Skin Fetish Highlighter & Balm Duo has also been used to achieve “luminous skin”, signature of Pat McGrath.

Hairstyles from the parade

The day of the show, not far from the makeup artist team, the hairstylist Guido Palau lounges in silence. The hairstyles are generally more sober than usual, at least if we compare them to last season’s neon bangs: “At Loewe, we do something spectacular, then we do something completely different,” he explains. All of this contributes to the clever balance sought by Jonathan Anderson since he became head of the house. “He has a great sense of beauty and knows what works at Loewe. This year, the focus was on Pat’s makeup. For the haircuts, we just checked if the models’ original hairstyles needed a little touch-up”. Is the part well done? Otherwise, Guido Palau just added “a little Zara Hair Light hair balm”.

Restraining yourself from messing around with hairstyles, looking for simplicity… All of this is a challenge in itself, confides the hairdresser: “Often, we have difficulty knowing when our hair is beautiful when it is left natural. The easy way is to take the curling iron or blow dry your hair. It’s more complicated to come up with something that is both beautiful and messy.”

For the new collection Loewe, Guido Palau thus sought to give an effortless look to the models’ cuts: “Jonathan’s clothes are quite extravagant. Hairstyles, natural, comfortable, allow them to be highlighted and made very modern,” adds the hairdresser, specifying that it is this type of association that best illuminates a red carpet according to him: “A beautiful dress and beautiful natural hair worn in different ways: undone, wet… That’s the key. A simple, authentic cut will always give you a cool side.”
