An explosion in an apartment caused the death of a man and the hospitalization of two people suffering from smoke poisoning.

A tragedy occurred this Monday, around 10:20 a.m., in La Tour-de-Peilz. An explosion devastated an apartment located in a rental building, starting a fire and causing a thick cloud of smoke. The emergency services, quickly dispatched to the scene, evacuated the building to shelter the residents.

Two people were seriously inconvenienced by smoke inhalation and taken to hospital for checks. During the intervention, firefighters and investigators discovered a lifeless body, probably that of the tenant of the apartment. Analyzes are underway to confirm the identity of the victim.

The causes of the explosion remain undetermined for the moment, but a criminal investigation has been opened by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The Vaudois security police took charge of the investigation in order to shed light on the exact circumstances of the event.

Several emergency services were mobilized, including firefighters from the SDIS ASR, medical teams, forensic inspectors, and explosives specialists from the ENDEX group.
