Serious road accident in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka

The victim of a violent exit from the road could have been discovered several hours after the accident, very seriously injured, Monday morning, in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, in Montérégie.

In the early hours of the morning, a resident of the area heard a deafening noise outside, possibly caused by leaving the road, which occurred on a curve on Route 236.

The woman apparently left her residence to see where the noise was coming from, but did not notice anything abnormal, according to our information.

It was only around 7:30 a.m. that a passerby contacted 911 when he saw a heavily damaged red car, upside down in a deep ditch, on the side of the road.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene and the driver was trapped inside the wreckage of his car.

Firefighters used extrication pliers to free him.

The driver, a man in his 30s from the area, was taken to hospital. He was unconscious at the time. Doctors strongly fear for his life.

A portion of Route 236 was completely closed to traffic between Routes 201 and 132, to allow a collision investigation specialist from the Sûreté du Québec to conduct their investigation.

The tragedy occurred in an area where the permitted speed limit is 90 km/h.
