Tonight on TV: Kad Merad is not in La Ch’tite famille, but that’s normal – Cinema News

Perhaps you wondered why Kad Merad was not back in this film “Ch’tis” directed by his friend Dany Boon? Quite simply because it is not a sequel to “Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis”.

When it was released, Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis by Dany Boon was a triumph in theaters, one of the biggest in French cinema, with 20.4 million admissions, and it is still in the top 3 today. of the biggest hits of all time at the French box office behind Titanic (21.7 million) and ahead of Intouchables (19.4).

From then on, it was quite logical that a sequel would be launched, but that was not the case. The postmaster played by Kad Merad and the postman played by Dany Boon never reappeared in the cinema… not even in La Ch’tite famille, also directed by Boon, and that’s quite normal!

Indeed, if the title of the film suggests it, La Ch’tite famille is neither the sequel nor the prequel to Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis. On the other hand, it also takes place in the North of , and also plays on the clash of cultures. In “Bienvenue”, Kad Merad played a southerner who landed in the north, in La Ch’tite famille, Dany Boon lends his features to an architect designer who has denied his origins in “nooooooord” and finds himself propelled there again.

On the other hand, La Ch’tite famille is NOT a sequel to Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis, and Dany Boon like Line Renaud does not play the same role.

The subject of this new foray into his roots greatly touched Dany Boon, who put a lot of himself in his film:

“I see myself talking to my mother again like Valentin does with Line! I see my father in the character played by Pierre Richard… Besides, in the scene where I finally explain myself to him after all these years, I I ended up in tears, so much so that I didn’t keep this shot because it wasn’t editable! The emotion was too strong… I realize that this theme of family roots speaks to a lot of people! and this, whatever the social background of origin Our parents always consider us as children and we always have this side towards them: ‘please drop me off at school but. two streets further, not in front!’.”
