Ifrane – The second day of the “HPS Innovation Weekend”, organized at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI), was punctuated by an intense competition between the student teams.

The quality of the projects developed, focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the payments sector, demonstrated the high level of competence and innovation of the participants.

The students, divided into groups, worked tirelessly to refine their prototypes and propose concrete and original solutions to the challenges posed by HPS. The atmosphere was both studious and stimulating, reflecting the enthusiasm and determination of the future talents of the Moroccan technology sector.

In a statement to MAP, Oumaima Hourrane, AI professor at AUI, stressed that this second day allowed students to realize their initial ideas by developing applications linked to artificial intelligence in the field of payments.

“The atmosphere is full of healthy competition. The students, divided into groups, work on building prototypes based on artificial intelligence. We observe real enthusiasm among the participants, who propose innovative projects and explore original AI techniques,” she observed.

She also highlighted the coaching and support sessions set up to support candidates in the development of their projects.

“We have scheduled coaching and support sessions for the candidates, trying to provide them with support and the necessary explanations in terms of Business Model, artificial intelligence tools that can be used in each project as well as their implementation.”, she added.

Among the competing projects, that of Meryem Aamimar, student at AUI, stands out for its relevance to the transport sector. His project, called “Card-Ty”, aims to facilitate the use of payment cards in public transport.

“The HPS competition is an opportunity for students to take on technological and management challenges. I chose to participate to develop my skills and collaborate with creative minds,” she emphasized.

”My project, Card-Ty, is aimed at the transport sector and aims to facilitate the use of payment cards in public transport. This participation will allow me to strengthen my skills in project management and innovation and to expand my professional network,” she explained.

Amine Anagaa, a 4th year business management student at AUI, presented an innovative project focused on improving relationships between clients and digital real estate agencies. He affirmed that the “HPS Innovation Weekend” represents a unique opportunity born from a fruitful partnership between Al Akhawayn University and HPS.

According to him, the main objective of this event is to accelerate the digital transformation of the banking sector. For Amine, the competition represents an exceptional opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired during his university studies, particularly in statistics, finance and other fields. He also sees this experience as a chance to forge links with one of the leading companies in the Moroccan market and to offer innovative and sustainable solutions.

“My project aims to facilitate real estate transactions by improving the interaction between clients and digital real estate agencies, a booming sector. The objective is to simplify access to financing for banking customers wishing to acquire real estate in Morocco, by offering financial and logistical facilities,” he explained.

Beyond the competition and the technological challenges, the organizers believe that this hackathon offers participants an enriching experience on a personal and professional level. Students have the opportunity to develop key skills in project management, teamwork and communication, while discovering the realities of the professional world.

They also benefit from personalized support from experienced mentors from the payments and artificial intelligence sector.

The event thus highlights the importance of collaboration between academia and the private sector to promote innovation and the development of talent in a rapidly changing sector.
