Two dead in an accident near Candiac

A head-on collision involving two vehicles occurred Sunday morning on Highway 30 near Candiac, on the South Shore of Montreal. Two people lost their lives in the accident.

The collision took place a little after 4 a.m. Sunday, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis-Guy.

Emergency services were called to a head-to-head collision involving two vehicles at kilometer 56 in the west spanshe explains.

One of the two people involved, a man in his twenties from Saint-Hubert, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, a woman in her forties from Candiac, died at the scene of the accident.

Currently, several hypotheses are being considered regarding the circumstances surrounding this collision. underlines Élizabeth Marquis-Guy.

A specialist police officer went to the scene to investigate this morning.

The highway was initially closed in both directions. Traffic then resumed in the east direction, but a section remained closed in the west direction for a good part of the morning. Emergency services left around 11 a.m. Both directions are open to traffic again.
