Better protection against flooding risks was the theme of the public meeting organized on Thursday September 26 at the Maison des associations by the Gardons Basin Territorial Public Establishment (EPTB Gardons). To this end, a campaign entitled “Gardons Alabri” was launched in the region and was developed during this meeting by Étienne Retailleau, deputy director of the Establishment.
It was following the catastrophic floods of 2002 with an exceptional flow of the Gardon of 6,000 m3/second, the equivalent of an Olympic swimming pool every second, that the public authorities implemented flood prevention plans with the PAP (Action and Prevention Plan) and the PPRI (Flood Risk Prevention Plan), which make it possible to identify residential and construction areas at risk in each municipality. Other tools contribute to prevention, such as the Flood Alert site and alerts to the population from town halls. Alabri operations to reduce vulnerability concern individuals, companies with fewer than twenty employees, campsites and agricultural operations.
An expert can come to your home
The EPTB des Gardons has established an agreement with the Osgapi design office, represented by Michel Darras. After making an appointment, an expert comes to your home to carry out a free diagnosis and recommend the necessary work, such as the installation of cofferdams, the creation or fitting out of a refuge room or the installation of non-return valves.
This work is 80% subsidized by the State and sometimes 100% for low incomes. After the quotes have been established, it is the EPTB which will compile the financing and subsidy request files for each individual.
