Samuel Edozie better dribbler than Jérémy Doku or Johan Bakayoko? The figures from his remarkable debut at Anderlecht – All football

We can make statistics say whatever we want. However, Samuel Edozie’s start to the season is more than interesting.

By being loaned Samuel Edozie by Southampton, Anderlecht has secured reinforcement capable of making a direct difference. Last season, the 21-year-old Englishman participated in the team’s rise to the Premier League with 6 goals and 3 assists.

To let him continue his progress and not leave him on the bench at the higher level, the Saints loaned him to Belgium, also with a good card to play in the Europa League. Estimated at eight million euros, the young winger wasted no time in demonstrating his value.

From his first appearance in the game against Westerlo, his agility with the ball and his dribbling sent shivers through Lotto Park. Against Ferencvaros, he proved decisive for the first time by going for the penalty converted by Kasper Dolberg.

Elusive on the left

The figures confirm the good impression left: since the start of the season, Edozie is quite simply the best U23 dribbler in the eight best European championships according to Data’Scout data. He completes 9.18 dribbles per match, more than Johan Bakayoko (6.97), Jérémy Doku (6.61), Nico Williams (6.19) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (5.61).

Statistics that must, however, be taken with a grain of salt: the playing time of all these wingers is not equal (although only players with more than 120 minutes of playing time were taken into consideration), others dribblers on the list also have a higher success rate.
