The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirms that it filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday, September 26, in the case of Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, who was found free of fault or negligence by a court independent of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive twice for clostebol, a banned substance, in March 2024.

WADA considers that the conclusion of “no fault or negligence” is not correct under the applicable rules. WADA is requesting a suspension period of one to two years. WADA is not seeking disqualification of any outcome except one that has already been imposed by the trial court.

As this matter is now pending before the CAS, WADA will make no further comment at this time.
