Haut-. An octogenarian killed in a head-on collision in Bonnetage

The shock was very violent this Saturday in Bonnetage. At the scene, police cut off traffic to secure rescue operations. Despite the rapid intervention of the firefighters, an 80-year-old man unfortunately lost his life on this Haut- road.

A slippery road

The collision occurred around midday on departmental road 41. On a curve, two vehicles collided head-on at the exit of the village, in the direction of Besançon. In the first car, an octogenarian was found in cardiac arrest. Resuscitation attempts by firefighters were unsuccessful. The 80-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. In the second vehicle, firefighters examined a 53-year-old man and two 8-year-old children. One of the children suffered a minor tooth injury. He was evacuated to the Jean-Minjoz hospital in Besançon.

A diversion was in place for most of the afternoon. The gendarmes carried out observations to try to determine the reasons for this shock, in this turn which had become wet and slippery.

Six deaths in a few weeks

In a few weeks, this is the third fatal accident on the roads of Doubs. On September 7, a driver hit a septuagenarian on the RN 57 in La Vrine. The latter died instantly. On September 16, four Brazilians aged 32 to 54 lost their lives in Saône after colliding with a tree. A dark series which destabilizes trends which suggested a drop in mortality in 2024.

“As of August 31, there were 10 road deaths. This was a positive result compared to previous years. As a trend, this could allow us to hope that there would be no more than 15 deaths on the roads. Which would have been a very sharp drop compared to previous years”recently confided the public prosecutor, Etienne Manteaux, during a press briefing. “The month of September is unfortunately much darker. »
