WRC. Sébastien Ogier abandons during the 2nd day of the Chile rally

Hard blow for Sébastien Ogier in the race for the WRC world championship title during the Chile rally.

The eight-time world champion hit a rock just before the finish of the special and damaged his front suspension.

Already had a puncture the day before

He had to retire for the day but could possibly leave again on Sunday to try to take part in the last special, the « Power Stage »which allows the first five to score additional points in the championship. The French driver was only 9th in the rally after having a puncture the day before, which had pushed him back in the standings.

The Chile rally is the 11th round of 13 of the world championship and Ogier was before this event 38 points behind the leader, the Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) who occupied 4th place on Saturday at the end of the 9th special. .

The first, with three special stages remaining on Saturday and four on Sunday, is the Briton Elfyn Evans (Toyota) ahead of his Finnish teammate Kalle Rovanperä and the Estonian Ott Tänak (Hyundai).
