unusual features of an America in the countryside

A little over a month before the American presidential election, we learn that Donald Trump sells watches, Kamala Harris worked at McDonald’s while Melania Trump recounts her first romantic date with her future husband.

Here are some unusual campaign highlights, compiled weekly by AFP until November 5, election day.

–  Montres Trump –

After sneakers, Bibles and coins bearing his image, Donald Trump now sells watches.

“These watches are really special – you will love them,” assures the Republican candidate for the November election on his Truth Social network.

Made in Switzerland, Trump watches are in solid 18-carat gold, adorned with diamonds and of course bearing his name.

But if you want to give them for Christmas, plan a big budget: they cost $100,000 each.

– Coca –

This week, Americans learned a little more about the eating habits of Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris.

A valuable ally of the Democrat in this electoral campaign, he published a video on X summarizing his visit to a fast food chain in Texas, in the south of the United States.

Visibly delighted, he shared his drink of choice: a cocktail composed of two thirds diet coke and one third classic coke.

A “simply delicious” drink according to him.

– First meeting –

In full promotion of her memoirs, Melania Trump spoke about the first romantic date she shared with her future husband.

“We had a first date, if you can call it a first date…” quipped the former First Lady in an interview with Fox News.

The billionaire who made his fortune in real estate has indeed mixed business with pleasure by taking his future wife to visit a property.

“It was very nice because we were alone in the car (…) without any other noise, without anyone else, because at the time he was already known and he was a celebrity. so it was very nice to be just the two of us,” she added.

– McDonald’s –

Kamala Harris reaffirmed this week that she had worked at McDonald’s, while her Republican rival claims the opposite.

When asked about this job during an interview, Kamala Harris maintained that she had worked in the American fast food chain when she was a student.

“It wasn’t a small job. I made fries,” she said with a laugh.

– “Tom Walz”? –

In Florida, in the southeast of the United States, the Democrat has a new running mate: Tom Walz.

A few weeks before the election, the first name of Minnesota governor and Democratic vice-presidential candidate, Tim Walz, was misspelled on some ballots printed in Florida.

An error which was subsequently corrected by the local authorities.
