Despite the rain, the AJA regains color. The Auxerrois brought the Brestois to the ground at the opening of the sixth day of the championship (3-0). Brest, which has still not won away, is not reassuring before playing in the Champions League this Tuesday.

Thunder of Brest

The Auxerres wanted to redeem themselves, after four defeats in a row, and pulled out all the stops. In the stands, Guy Roux and Éric Roy, who was serving the first of his three suspension matches, wore hats and caps differently. The first had reason to rejoice in the physical intensity of Christophe Pélissier’s men. They were rewarded just before the half-hour mark, when Elisha Owusu exploited Lassine Sinayoko’s good body play on Brendan Chardonnet. The Brestois was swallowed up, and Owusu only had to adjust Marco Bizot with his left foot (1-0, 26e).

Ten minutes later, Jérémy Stinat whistled the hand of the Swiss Edimilson Fernandes, cousin of the former Rennais Gelson Fernandes. Capitão Jubal transformed it to the left of Bizot, with the flat of his foot (2-0, 37e). Auxerre could even have tripled the lead in the process, if Traoré had put some power in his head (44e).

If the rain intensified in the second half, Auxerre continued its game at Brestoise last season: intensity, big pressing and enthusiasm. The Burgundians provided themselves with a safety net on the hour mark, thanks to Hamed Junior Traoré. Already a scorer last week against (2-3), the Ivorian had a cold Brendan Chardonnet, definitely not in good shape this evening (3-0, 59th). For the record, this goal allowed Auxerre to overtake Brest in the standings. Both teams are 12e et 13e this Friday evening.

Even though they had the ball, the Brestois no longer believed it. As proof, scorer Ludovic Ajorque being replaced by midfielder Jonas Martin. The Canadian Theo Bair could even have increased the gap (87e90e +1), or Brest reduce it, but Mama Baldé found the crossbar after a magnificent acrobatic gesture (90e +3).

Before facing Saint-Étienne, Auxerre gives itself some fresh air and holds its benchmark match.
