Kamala Harris’ team accuses Secret Service agent of sexually assaulting one of its members

This sexual assault allegedly occurred last week at a hotel in Wisconsin. The case comes at a time when the Secret Service has been widely criticized since the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.

The affair should not contribute to restoring the image of the Secret Service, the American agency responsible for the security of high-ranking personalities and the subject of numerous criticism since the assassination attempt on Donald Trump last July. According to several American media, such as ABC and NBC, an agent has been suspended and is under investigation for sexual assault on a member of Vice-President Kamala Harris’ team.

According to the BBC, the agent in question was in Green Bay, Wisconsin, last week with members of Kamala Harris’ team to prepare a trip for the Democratic candidate in the presidential election. The latter was supposed to go there last Friday but she ultimately chose to go to Atlanta, Georgia.

Alleged assault in hotel room

After dinner and a few drinks, the agent, visibly drunk, allegedly engaged in sexual touching in a hotel room in front of several witnesses, reports CBS.

In a statement, the vice president’s office said it “takes staff safety very seriously.” “We have zero tolerance when it comes to sexual violence,” he added.

“Senior officials in the Vice President’s Office were alerted by the Secret Service of an incident involving an agent and informed that it had opened an investigation.”

These revelations come at the time of the publication of a Senate report pointing out the failings of the Secret Service during the Butler meeting during which Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt. The day after a tense parliamentary hearing during which she acknowledged a major failure, the director of the agency resigned.

Congressional parliamentarians must also look into a second assassination attempt on the Republican candidate that occurred earlier this month in Florida. Secret Service reforms are expected to be proposed in a new report by the end of the year.
