The risk of rain-flood is further accentuated. This Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 10 a.m., Météo France has placed the department of Isère and the city of Grenoble in orange alert.
The department joins Ain, Jura, Savoie, Corrèze and Haute-Savoie, also placed on orange vigilance.
Isère will be affected by severe weather in the coming hours. “River overflows or mudslides are possible,” specifies the official meteorology and climatology service in France.
Active vigilance all day long
Rain-flood vigilance should be lifted during the night of Thursday September 26 to Friday September 27 for the department of Isère.
“Over the rest of the Alps, the expected accumulations are however also quite substantial, with a fairly homogeneous distribution over the entire surface of the catchment basins, and with a very high rain-snow limit, therefore predominantly liquid precipitation”, indicate Météo France services.
The current orange vigilance covers the departments in which the probability of heavy accumulations close to 80-100mm is high, at least locally in vulnerable sectors.
Note that the department is also placed in yellow alert due to winds violent forces sweeping the territory. This vigilance should be lifted after 9 p.m. this Thursday.
