Varane announces his retirement | Manchester United

“During my career, I have faced many challenges and surpassed myself time and time again, often in the face of what seemed impossible,” he wrote on Instagram. “Extraordinary emotions, unique moments and memories that will remain engraved forever. Reflecting on these moments, it is with immense pride and a sense of accomplishment that I announce my retirement from the game we all love.

I have always set the highest standards for myself; I wanted to go out with a bang, not just hang in there. It takes a lot of courage to listen to your heart and your instincts. Want and needs are two different things. I have fallen and gotten up a thousand times, and today it is time to retire, leaving behind a trophy victory at Wembley.

I enjoyed fighting for myself, my clubs, my country, my teammates and the supporters of all the teams I played for, from to Madrid, then Manchester, not forgetting our national team. I defended each jersey with passion and enjoyed every minute of it.

“Football, at its highest level, is an exhilarating experience. It challenges every aspect of our body and mind. The emotions we feel cannot be found anywhere else. As athletes, we are never satisfied and we never accept success. It’s our nature and what motivates us. »
