After a brief 9-minute video to introduce the beast, the PlayStation 5 Pro is finally a reality. For the moment, only the PlayStation Direct site offers it for pre-order and the prices will surprise you for the PS5 Pro 30th anniversary edition.
Tuesday September 10, 2024, at 5 p.m., Sony officially lifted the veil on its new hardware, the PlayStation 5 Pro. This new console was duly presented by Mark Cerny, the brain behind the architectures of the PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, and now the PS5 Pro. Pre-orders are already open for an official release on November 7.
Where to pre-order the PS5 Pro?
The Sony PlayStation 5 Pro is available for 799 euros without a disc drive. As with the Slim models, the plates will be interchangeable and it will also be possible to subsequently add a Blu-ray player.
For the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, Sony also thought of the nostalgic with an edition in the colors of the PS1 for its new PS5 Pro. It is sold in a pack with a DualSense, a DualSense Edge, a charging station for controllers and lots of other goodies, for the modest sum of 1,099 euros. The release date is scheduled for November 21.
Note that you may be placed in a queue first, as the PlayStation Direct site is experiencing high traffic at the moment.
PS5 Pro: what are the differences with the classic PS5?
The PS5 Pro obviously brings its share of new features, and there are many 4 years after the launch of the original console. We can first start with its new components promising a new graphics processor 45% more efficient than that of the classic PS5, with effects three to four times more intense for ray tracing, this technology greatly improving the reflections of light.
The other significant new feature is the PSSR (or PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution). This is an upscaling technology more or less similar to Nvidia’s DLSS or AMD’s FSR. This will aim to be able to offer 4K at 60 frames per second, or even more, and even 8K at 30 frames per second, depending on the brand. Some previously released titles may benefit from this new feature, such as The Last of Us Part 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or even Horizon Forbidden West.
Finally, you will not have missed that the design has also changed a little compared to the PS5 Slim. Already, it is heavier and larger, and now sports three Adidas-style stripes, instead of one. Then, the last new feature and not the least, is the SSD, still just as fast, which increases to 2 TB of storage, compared to 825 GB previously.
