Michael Schumacher’s family to be tried for attempted blackmail

German prosecutors on Wednesday requested the referral to court of three suspects in an attempted blackmail of the family of former Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher. A 53-year-old father and his 30-year-old son, living in Wuppertal, Germany, are accused of trying to extort 15 million euros from the racing driver’s family by threatening to publish data on the darknet that the family did not want to see disseminated, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office.
