With Frédéric Destenay (ex-Sedan), the lights are green at Paliseul

Paliseul has had a perfect performance in this championship. We imagine that you are satisfied with your troops?

Of course. Who wouldn’t be? We are continuing the work we started last year, with a focus on making the game enjoyable for both the team and our fans. However, it is important to remain clear-headed and not get carried away. We are enjoying these successes while keeping our feet on the ground.

What are the strengths of this Paliseul 2024-2025?

The strengths of this Paliseul version 2024-2025 lie above all in our collective spirit. The desire to work together, to sacrifice for each other, are key elements of our success. We have a group that lives well, both on and off the field, and this cohesion is reflected in our performances.

Some people think you are the big favorite, do you agree?

To say that we are the big favourites seems premature to me. There are strong teams like Wellin, Leglise, and especially Bertrix, who have already beaten these two opponents. To date, we have not yet faced any of these three teams. In my opinion, Bertrix is the real favourite, with its history, its city, its infrastructure, and especially its squad. Players like Roset, Lodriguez and Pierson make the nets tremble every weekend. They are elements of experience. As for the others, I know Mezzouari and Moreau well, whom I worked alongside at CS Sedan.

Do you want to quickly move up to P2?

Yes, but without rushing. We have a project and the idea is to build a solid team capable of maintaining itself and progressing sustainably.

Should reinforcements be made in the event of a surge?

Regarding possible reinforcements in case of promotion, I would say that I already have an excellent core with whom I like to work. Whether we are in P2 or P3, the idea would be to maintain this balance. We would limit ourselves to replacing one departure with one arrival, as we did this year.

What is the best surprise of this start to the season within your squad?

To be honest, I didn’t really have any surprises among last year’s players, but rather confirmations of what I already thought about their potential. On the other hand, the new recruits, whom I had the opportunity to meet only around a table, like Hubert, Arnould, Jacques, Lemaire and Leclerc, are real revelations, both for their performances on the field and for their positive attitude off it.

What kind of coach are you?

I don’t really have a role model. I don’t draw much inspiration from others because I watch very few matches. That said, three names come to mind, even if they may not all be familiar to you. At the provincial level, there is Tordo, coach at Arlon in the 90s. For training, I would mention Sébastien Tambouret, coach of the Stade Rennais reserve team. Finally, on the international level, Carlo Ancelotti, even if I have never worked with him directly, remains a reference for me.
