“It’s very difficult to lose this match in the last minutes. We fought a big battle, it’s frustrating, but Caen deserved their victory. They are a team that is better equipped than us, especially on the bench. It depends on the quality of the squad, their ability to hold out over the long term. In the first half, we responded well. We knew they were going to push, that’s what happened. After the opening goal, we kept our composure, we continued to work. There were some good comebacks and we logically came back into the game. As the game went on, it became increasingly difficult and Caen put in potential starters at the end of the game. I think they won thanks to these weapons. Like last season, in fact. It’s always difficult to defend against Alexandre Mendy. He’s a player who can get deep, who is good with his head and spontaneous. We saw it on the goal, it was very well played. We were in numbers in the box, but he cut in front, at the near post. He’s a formidable striker and Malherbe is very lucky to have him. On our side, we work with young people. Not everything is perfect, many are learning and we fight with our weapons. We will do it every weekend to achieve our goal.
