The match between Atalanta and Como scheduled for the fifth round of Serie A has been postponed and rescheduled, and will now be played on Tuesday 24 September, starting at 19:45 BST.
Atalanta vs Como postponed to Tuesday
Atalanta-Como, initially scheduled for 7:45 p.m. on Monday evening, was canceled, postponed again and then definitively postponed in an eventful hour at the Gewiss Stadium.
Torrential and continuous rains in the Bergamo area flooded the Gewiss stadium pitch, making the match dangerous.
A last-minute inspection of the pitch took place just before the originally scheduled kick-off time (7:45 p.m.). Paride Tremolada decided to delay the proceedings by half an hour and requested a new inspection at 8:15 p.m.
The grounds staff made incredible efforts to clear the pitch in the short time available, with the rain still falling. Shortly after 8.15pm it was confirmed that the match could go ahead, with the match starting at 8.45pm.
A final inspection took place at 8:45 p.m. The pitch at the Gewiss stadium had been soaked again by heavy rain, the surface was no longer playable and the match was definitively cancelled.
Atalanta have since confirmed that the match will now take place 24 hours after the originally scheduled kick-off time of 7.45pm BST on Tuesday evening.
