Drama in a residential area on the outskirts of Lillois (Braine-l’Alleud): an 18-year-old woman found dead by her mother, the father arrested

This is the press release released this Monday morning by the Nivelles public prosecutor’s office. This (alleged) murder took place last Wednesday. It therefore took almost a week for the public prosecutor’s office to agree to release a press release of exemplary laconicism and just as much time for the reader to be informed of a murder that was seven days old.

All this is due to the process put in place by the public prosecutor’s office, which prohibits the ten police zones of Walloon Brabant from communicating the slightest information or the slightest clue of information concerning a “blood affair”. Whether it is a murder, even more so an assassination, or even a traffic accident with serious injuries or a deceased victim. And what about the weekend? The reader will learn on Tuesday morning that a motorcyclist lost his life on a Friday late afternoon. Social networks are informed 72 hours before the newspaper reader. It’s hard to believe.

In this case, despite our requests to the two members of the prosecution service of the “information” unit, we do not know the content of the order issued Monday afternoon by the council chamber regarding whether or not to keep the suspect in preventive detention. It would be very surprising if he were released because, according to the rumours gathered precisely on Monday afternoon in the Clos Saint-Jean, the man who is under arrest warrant has not yet been heard by the investigating judge. He is still in his hospital bed, inaudible.

Everyone knows each other in this enclosure located at the entrance (or exit, depending on your point of view) to Lillois. Sixteen semi-detached houses, two by two, occupied since 1980. We learned that the woman returned home last Wednesday around 6 p.m. She had a lot of trouble getting in. She found her daughter dead while the father was in his bed, unconscious. It could be that he tried to commit suicide. This is only a hypothesis. He allegedly told investigators that he had been attacked and stabbed. The attacker apparently disappeared. The front door had not been forced.

The father allegedly denied killing his daughter, who is still a minor and who, after successfully completing her humanities studies at the Institut de l’Enfant-Jésus in Nivelles, had just started university studies in physiotherapy. The federal judicial police in Nivelles have begun a neighborhood investigation into this family. They have surely learned more than we have about the alleged murderer who, we have learned, had left the family home a few months ago to run away for several days.
