Ayuso wins the time trial of the 4th stage of the Tour de Luxembourg, Van der Poel returns in yellow

Spaniard Juan Ayuso won the fourth stage of the Tour de Luxembourg on Saturday, a 15km individual time trial in Differdange where Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel took back the overall lead.

It is the eighth victory of his career for the 22-year-old UAE rider, who has moved up in the general classification. Before the final, hilly stage on Sunday, the top five in the standings are separated by just ten seconds.

Van der Poel, fifth in the time trial, is in the lead and takes the yellow jersey from Belgian Mauri Vansevenant.

The world champion, who will defend his title in a week in Zurich, has a three-second lead over Ayuso and Vansevenant, eight over the Swiss Marc Hirschi and ten over the Italian Antonio Tiberi.

The Frenchman David Gaudu, who set a good time, is seventh overall, 39 seconds behind.

1. Juan Ayuso (ESP/UAE), the 15.5 km in 19:11.

2. Antonio Tiberi (ITA/Bahrain) at 7.
