How the CA Brive forwards wore down the Aurillacois before the backs had a field day

More solid than a Stade Aurillacois player in the first period, the CAB logically won the five points of a bonus victory (48-17). Mission accomplished for a historic evening at the Stadium.

A few hours before the match kick-off, when inaugurating the fourth stand, Thierry Blandinières had set the tone. Clearly and without any waffle, as he has done since the start of the season.

“We want to win with the offensive bonus so that the party is complete,” said the president of CA Brive. It is clear that, on the field, his speech was heard because this Friday evening the Corréziens knew how to patiently build their victory to win five precious points against Cantaliens who were players to their heart’s content.

The Brive forwards have undermined

Except that in front of this fire embodied by David Delarue and Ugo Seunes, Brive responded with a chilling realism to each of its incursions. Erwan Dridi planted the first banderilla on a penalty touch which brought play, before the Correzian forwards tightened around Lucas Da Silva to send the hooker to score a double in nine minutes.

Ahead 22-10 at half-time with three tries scored to one, the CAB had what it took to see it coming. And calmly. Well, not so calmly since on the reception of the kick-off, Léo Carbonneau and the first cell did not communicate and Aurillac got their hands on the ball.

More timid, the Cantaliens decided to hit straight into the Corrèze defense that wasn’t asking for much. Lucas Da Silva scraped along the ground and a few minutes later, Dridi scored his double after a lovely skipped pass from Sam Johnson.

A large-scale movement punctuated by Marais

Moment chosen by the Corréziens to capsize the Stadium. On a large-scale action, Mathis Ferté shifted Retief Marais for the fifth try. Two others will follow to complete a logical and deserved success of a CAB clearly above its opponent, especially in front.

CA Brive – Aurillac: it’s time for your notebook, it’s your turn to play

A success that was especially enhanced to end in style an evening that will be a landmark in a Stadium with its fourth stand. Now all that remains is to continue in Mont-de-Marsan, next Friday, as Thierry Blandinières wished.
