Sony officially announces PlayStation 5 Pro

It’s an open secret that has been around for a long time but which finally ended on September 10: yes, the PS5 Pro exists and we will have to wait until November 7 to be able to get it in stores. Joy, jubilation and confetti then? Not quite, it’s even more like amazement, grimace, tar and feathers that would be rather trendy with many followers of the brand.

First point that makes you tick: its price of €799. It’s quite simple, it’s the most expensive PlayStation console ever sold. You’d think that Sony had decided to follow in the footsteps of manufacturers like Apple when you see the increases in its prices (note recently the €5 increase in its PS5 controllers). Another point that bothers you: the absence of a disk drive. 100% digital, you will have to go back to the checkout to buy an external disk drive if you plan to be able to play your games on physical format. Additional cost: €119.99. It should also be noted that the support to hold the console vertically will no longer be provided with the machine and you get a hefty bill for a machine that does not have the technical gap hoped for by many.

Without going into pure technique, yes the games benefit from a finer rendering, yes the Ray Tracing will be more efficient and yes the display frequency will be improved but does that justify a sale price almost twice as expensive as a normal PS5?

Everyone will judge, but the pricing change initiated by Sony has not finished causing a stir…
