Saint-Étienne: Nice inflicts a correction on the Greens and breaks a record!

Tonight at the Allianz Riviera, Nice celebrated a memorable 120th anniversary with a resounding 7-0 win over Saint-Étienne. This match will be remembered for a record for a team in L1 in the 21st century of scoring 6 goals in a half. After only four minutes of play, Nice opened the scoring thanks to an own goal by Batubinsika, deflecting a cross from Clauss. Three minutes later, Ndombélé doubled the lead with an unstoppable shot in the box. Nice then followed up with a sumptuous goal from Cho, who eliminated Ekwah before sending a curling shot with his left into the side netting (24′). Then, in the 26th minute, Moukoko scored his first goal in the colours of Nice, finishing off a move by Guessand. The latter also found the back of the net in the 37th minute, before Moukoko added a second personal goal just before the break (39′). At half-time, Nice leads 6-0, a real humiliation for the Greens.

A festival of goals

With such a large score at half-time, the second half seemed to have already been decided. The Niçois eased off, while continuing to dominate. The Stéphanois, dejected, tried as best they could to contain the attacks, but the difference in level was too great. The final blow came in the 76th minute when Sofiane Diop, back after nine months of injury, scored the seventh goal by tackling a ball pushed back by Larsonneur. A final goal scored by Rosario who scored his very first goal in Nice on a penalty by wrong-footing Larsonneur. It was 8-0. The referee whistled the end of the match, putting an end to the ordeal for the Saint-Étienne team. The Greens’ crowd present at the Allianz Riviera left the stands at half-time. Nice took a resounding victory for its anniversary (8-0), while Saint-Étienne will have to recover from this humiliating defeat.
