1 – Speech by ECB President Christine Lagarde

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde will deliver a speech this Friday, September 20 in Washington at 11:00 a.m. (local time). The speech will be part of an event at the International Monetary Fund, which Christine Lagarde led from 2011 to 2019: “2024 Michel Camdessus Central Banking Lecture.” As a prelude to the speech, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva will deliver a few words.

2 – Huawei’s first tri-fold mobile phone goes on sale

The first tri-fold mobile phone from the Chinese brand Huawei will go on sale this Friday, September 20. Named the Mate XT, its starting price is set at 19,999 yuan, or more than 2,500 euros.

3 – 72nd edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival

The 72nd edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain begins tomorrow. The event will close on September 28. Australian actress Cate Blanchett will receive an award honoring her entire career. The Donostia Honorary Award will be given to Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.

Each year, the jury selects the winner of the Coquille d’Or from among twenty feature films. Two French films have won this prize: In the house by François Ozon in 2012 and My son by Martial Fougeron in 2006.

4 – 7th edition of the Laver Cup in Berlin

The 7th edition of the Laver Cup men’s tennis competition will take place tomorrow in Berlin and will end on September 22. The event, created by Roger Federer, pits a team of European players against a team of American players – captained by John McEnroe.

In Team Europe, the world numbers 2, 3 and 5 will be present: Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev. The player Rafael Nadal was announced as withdrawing before the start of the competition due to uncertainties about his physical condition.

The body of Joachim du Bellay was reportedly identified in a coffin found in Notre-Dame Cathedral in . As a result of an assessment of archaeological excavations under the building, the body found was buried in the 16th century in a lead coffin.
