900 students from the Golf-Hôtel vocational high school were evacuated on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, around 9 a.m. The cause: a fire that was apparently started by a high school student at this establishment in Hyères (Var), reports Var-Morning The suspect, who was enrolled in the cooking section, is said to have used a lighter and deodorant.
The fire was quickly brought under control
A total of 19 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. They were quickly able to control the flames after the students were evacuated. The fire had started at a partition located on the second floor of the building, said BFM Var Rescue workers said the damage was not serious.

Once the fire was contained, firefighters checked for hot spots and took an air quality survey. With the situation under control, students were then asked to return to their classes. It is not yet known whether this fire was intentional or not.
