Who can donate and how does it work?

To donate a gamete, you must be an adult, up to 37 years old for a woman, 44 years old for a man. That’s 18 million potential donors and only 1,600 take the step each year.

To donate, it’s easier when you’re a man. You just have to go to a donation center, it takes a few minutes. For a woman, on the other hand, you have to take a treatment for 10 to 12 days before the collection, which is done in the hospital, under anesthesia.
