The associations celebrated heritage.
Brenac celebrated Heritage Day brilliantly around its associations. Residents and visitors had the opportunity to discover and rediscover the treasures of the Saint-Julien-et-Sainte-Basilisse church, under the leadership of Jean-Claude Baer, guide for a day.
From 3:30 p.m., the meeting was set near the fountain of Bishop Petrus Amelius, to discuss the project of its renovation and rehabilitation of the square which has now lost its original essence as a place of life and meetings and which currently serves as a parking lot.
This project is under study and meetings with the population should be scheduled soon. Janine Castel, president of the association behind this idea, wanted to salute the Garcia and Camredon families for their involvement in this project.
This day highlighted the remarkable work of the Brenacois associations that have worked tirelessly for thirty years to beautify their village. It is through them that the architectural heritage was restored and preserved, and that Brenac directly obtained two flowers from the “Villes et villages fleuris” label in 1997, which have been preserved since.
An appeal is therefore launched to the new generations and to the young retirees of the village, for a passing of the torch so that this state of mind and this inestimable local heritage continue.
The day continued in the town hall with a beautiful exhibition retracing the actions of the Friends of Flowers and the members of the Saint-Julien-et-Sainte-Basilisse association and was concluded by a concert by the traditional group Gesppe.
The day ended with the sharing of a friendly drink and the reading of the booklet designed by Jean-Claude Baer on the history of Petrus Amelius, Abbé Courtade and the Brenacois associations.
