Death of Kamilya in Vallauris: he deliberately reared up his motorbike and could have used his phone, video surveillance images undermine the suspect’s version

A 7-year-old girl who was crossing a pedestrian crossing died on August 29 in Vallauris (Alpes-Maritimes). The suspect: a motorcyclist, a 19-year-old computer science student. He is accused of overtaking a line of cars in an illegal manner and of hitting, by doing a wheelie, Kamilya. Indicted, Matteo B. remains free under judicial supervision.

A motorcycle reared up on purpose and a phone used?

Before the investigating chamber during his hearing on September 10, the suspect explained that the wheel of his motorcycle had lifted involuntarily. The movement in the air of his handlebars, as if to find a point of balance on a wheel, could call into question this version of events.

At the hearing, the young man assured that his phone was neither in his pocket nor in his hand but on a support located on the handlebars of his motorcycle. However, on the images, the police noticed a strange gesture by the motorcyclist, who “appears to be looking at something as he lowers his head and holds an object in his left hand. Then he lowers his hand towards his left leg.”
