Rapper Puff Daddy arrested for sexual assault in the US

Lhe hip-hop legend will have to explain himself to the criminal justice system. On Monday evening, Sean Combs, better known by his stage names “Diddy”, “P. Diddy” or “Puff Daddy” in the 1990s, was arrested in New York, according to American media. An arrest that follows his indictment by a grand jury, according to the New York TimesThe indictment has not yet been released by the American justice system but, according to the daily, would include charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

“We are disappointed by this unfair prosecution,” said Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, in a statement released to American media. “Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon. He is an imperfect person but not a criminal,” continued the attorney, who assures that his client is “innocent” and has “cooperated” with the investigation.

Accused by at least 8 women

Last March, dozens of federal agents raided Sean Combs’ luxurious villas in Los Angeles and Miami, seizing several electronic devices. Since November 2023, at least 8 women have accused the artist of violence and various sexual abuses. Several civil lawsuits – many of the acts denounced being statute-barred – have been settled amicably, including those brought by singer Cassie. Diddy’s ex-partner said she suffered “sexual and psychological” violence for years, between 2005 and 2018.

Last May, CNN released a shocking video in which Combs was seen violently assaulting Cassie, throwing her to the ground before kicking her several times. Another woman accused the rapper of gang-raping her in 2003 when she was 17. Sean Combs denied these accusations outright, denouncing a “witch hunt.”
