Strengthening its support for agrobiology and supporting installation-transmission more than ever: at the international livestock show (Space), in Rennes from September 17 to 19, we will present our action and our priorities for the future of Breton agriculture.
-
70%

-

farms to be transferred each year in Brittany
By adopting an ambitious roadmap in February 2024, the Brittany Region defined five major
future challenges to guide its agricultural action:
- contribute to food sovereignty,
- preserve natural resources,
- adapt and mitigate climate change,
- provide income to farmers,
- maintain control of the production tool.
Producing better, while respecting the limits of ecosystems, while assuming its role in the food sovereignty of the continent: this is therefore the objective of the Brittany Region which reaffirms this year again, its commitment to agroecology and the priority to installation-transmission to renew the generations while preserving a family model of exploitation on a human scale.
Amplifying the transitions of Breton agriculture
The Region, which makes supporting the agro-ecological transition and generational renewal a priority, helps farms through various schemes. Among these, replacing the farm competitiveness and adaptation plans (PCAEA), the community launched Agri'Invest last fall, a new program focused on the modernization of agricultural holdings and supporting transitionsIts aim: to enable Breton agriculture to remain competitive, while adapting its practices through the agroecological transition, improving working conditions and attracting a new generation of farmers.
Agri'Invest introduces the notion of agro-ecological transition contract. This contract becomes a condition of access and a selection grid for productive investments and on-farm processing to help farmers promote their transition approaches in three areas: reducing their impact on water, the climate and biodiversity.

Renewing generations
At the same time, one of the Region's main messages to Space also concerns the renewal of generations. The objective: to achieve 1,000 installations supported per year to compensate for the retirement of farmers, preserve the Breton fabric of family farms and contribute to food sovereignty. But what are the axes of the new strategy for the agriculture of tomorrow?
- Support installation projects,
- Preserve and guide the use of agricultural land,
- Attract and train people in agricultural professions,
- Territorialize the installation-transmission,
- Develop a regional communication strategy,
- Improving the transmissibility of Breton farms.
The Brittany Region will launch in particular next autumn: “360 diagnostics” as part of the Agri Transmission systemThis will enable a complete action plan to be delivered to the operator in order to improve the transferability of his business.
In addition, on the occasion of Space 2024, an agreement will be signed between the Brittany Region, Crédit Mutuel de Bretagne, Crédit Agricole and SAFER, in the presence of Arnaud Lécuyer, Vice-President of the Region for Agriculture, with a view to harmonizing existing deferred land purchase schemes, which facilitate the installation of young farmers, and therefore contribute to the renewal of generations.
