“Butterflies in her stomach”: Laure Boulleau talks about the jealousy of other players towards her (ZAPTV)

Monday, September 16, Laure Boulleau was Nathalie Lévy's guest in As an aside. The columnist of the Canal Football Club and former footballer spoke about the jealousy of other players towards her, not understanding why she signed with sponsors because of her appearance.

In 2018 at only 31 years old, Laure Boulleau makes a rare decision in top-level football. While she is one of the stars of Saint-Germain and the French team (to which she had already said goodbye two years earlier), the full-back decides to retire from the fields. But the reconversion has already been decided and is turning out in the most beautiful way: today a consultant for Canal+, she is one of the most well-known and regular faces alongside Hervé Mathoux in the Canal Football Club. This despite a difficult period which made her fear the worst: “I don't know what happened, I couldn't concentrate anymore, I had memory lapses, I started to panic. I've done shows where I felt like I was on autopilot, I was there without being there.” she confided to Mouloud Achour last May.

“We feel that it annoys people more”

If Laure Boulleau chose to hang up her boots so early, it is also because her relationships with her teammates were starting to deteriorate. Long considered both a good player and like a beautiful womanthe Parisian is surfing on her popularity to sign advertising contracts. Which does not go down well with her teammates, as she explained this Monday to Nathalie Lévy in As an aside : “I had an exacerbated need to show that I liked being cute when I entered the field, put on a little makeup, and it's true that I was quite well-presented, I attracted sponsors, I was a very good player certainly but I was not Zinedine Zidaneit's sure thatThere are other players who were saying to themselves 'but why is it Laure? Who signs with such brand?'” she begins.

A difficult situation to manage for the young woman, who feels imposter syndrome: “It pissed me off in the stomach because sometimes you feel that it annoys people more, I said to myself 'I must not be legitimate since they react like that'” concludes Laure Boulleau. Who is now keen to prove that she is there thanks to her mastery of football, both on and off the field, even becoming the first female voice in the commentary of the famous FIFA video game.
