The world of cinema in mourning
Jean-Michel Dupuis, a familiar face of French cinema and a true pillar of the theatre, has died at the age of 69, after battling a long illness. It was his partner, Sylvie Audcoeur, herself an actress and screenwriter, who shared the sad news on Facebook.
Born in 1955 in Seine-Maritime, Jean-Michel Dupuis began his film career in 1976 in Little Marcel by Jacques Fansten. But it's really in The Boomwhere he played Claude Brasseur's doctor friend, which made an impression on the general public in 1980.

He then continued to play roles in the 80s and 90s, appearing in around twenty films. He has worked with renowned directors such as Alain Resnais in Life is a novelor even Edouard Molinaro in Love in sweetness.

Unforgettable roles
On the small screen, Jean-Michel Dupuis has made numerous appearances in popular television series such as The Cordiers, judge and cop or even Josephine, guardian angel. But it was in the theater that his talent really blossomed. For 40 years, he reigned on the stage and had no less than six Molière nominations for his supporting roles without ever winning the precious trophy.
He notably shone in the famous play The First Namealongside Patrick Bruel and Valérie Benguigui, under the direction of Bernard Murat. Unfortunately, during the film adaptation, he did not reprise his role, the directors having chosen to entrust it to Charles Berling.

His last film appearance was in 2006 in the film A spring in Paris by Jacques Bral. Jean-Michel Dupuis leaves behind an impressive legacy, proof of his love for the seventh art.
