“La boum”: death of French actor Jean-Michel Dupuis

Actor Jean-Michel Dupuis died on Saturday, September 14, following a long illness, his partner announced. He was 69 years old.

Jean-Michel Dupuis was one of those supporting actors in French cinema who were immediately identifiable and loved by spectators. He had worked extensively with Michel Deville, Claude Lelouch, Edouard Molinaro and Bertrand Blier.

But he had become particularly popular with his role in “La Boum” by Claude Pinoteau, with Sophie Marceau, then a beginner.

Jean-Michel Dupuis had also worked extensively on television. Notably in “The Valladolid Controversy” with Jean-Louis Trintignant, but also “A Woman of Honor”, “Joséphine, Guardian Angel” and “Sauveur Giordano”.

In the theater, he distinguished himself in the play by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, “Le prénom”. Jean-Michel Dupuis was nominated six times in the category of best actor in a supporting role at the Molières.
