“The Ark of Peace”, the Chinese hospital ship at the port of Pointe-Noire for free care

The medical team of the Chinese hospital ship has been offering free services to the Congolese population for 7 days since Monday, September 16, 2024.

“The Ark of Peace” arrived at the port of Pointe-Noire on Sunday, September 15, 2024, with a medical team on board. The team will intervene for a week, as part of the medical cooperation between the Middle Kingdom and Congo-Brazzaville.

This second visit, after 7 years, represents a deep and historical significance between the two countries.

With medical conditions in Congo-Brazzaville lagging behind, the country is in dire need of services like those offered by the Chinese hospital ship.

The medical team on board will treat everything from cardiovascular diseases to dental care, including gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and internal medicine.

From 2010 to 2017, the “Peace Ark” visited Asia, Africa and Oceania. A total of 29 countries and regions and nearly 120,000 people enjoyed the services of the hospital ship's medical team.

The Peace Ark is 178 meters long and has a total surface area of ​​4,000 square meters. With eight operating rooms, seven care and health centers and 300 beds, the hospital ship can offer a wide range of services.

The ship arriving at the port of Pointe-Noire must remain there for seven days. For this, patient registration registers are opened in the local hospitals: Loandjili, Adolphe Sicé, Tié Tié, Clinique Océan, Hôpital des Armées, Ngoyo.
