“Brocéliande”: What is Nolwenn Leroy's first series on TF1 worth? Our opinion

This is the big cartridge of the TF1 back-to-school season. This Monday, September 16, 2024, from 9:10 p.m., the One begins the broadcast of “Brocéliande”, a Breton thriller in six episodes of fifty-two minutes, carried by the singer Nolwenn Leroy. In this co-production of Films du printemps, Shine Fictions and TF1, the winner of the “Star Academy” in 2002 plays Fanny Legoff, a biologist who returns to her native land twenty years after the disappearance of her best friend in which she had been suspected. Returning to the place of her childhood, Fanny will once again be at the heart of the disappearance of one of her students. In both cases, she is the last person to have seen them alive. Why does history repeat itself? The young woman will do everything to solve this mystery and prove her innocence.

A slightly too incredible ending

After an anecdotal appearance in an episode of “Capitaine Marleau” in 2021, Nolwenn Leroy landed her first major acting role with “Brocéliande”. After a hesitant first few minutes, the 41-year-old artist's performance gained consistency over the episodes to culminate in a successful performance. Well helped by a group of recognized actors (Marie-Anne Chazel, Arnaud Binard, Thomas Jouannet, Catherine Marchal, Medi Sadoun and Lorànt Deutsch), the singer can also thank an addictive story and a well-crafted script, distilling numerous treasure hunts, family secrets and revelations in each episode. Up to a final episode multiplying (perhaps even a little too much) the incredible twists and turns.

With “Brocéliande”, TF1 thus returns to the great summer sagas that made its success. Despite a classic production, the fiction turns out to be an effective thriller that grabs viewers from the first minutes. Among the latest serial offerings of the private channel (“Mercato”, “Mademoiselle Holmes” or “Le Négociateur”), this mini-series easily ranks at the top of the basket. And that's already not bad.
