The 68th Belgian Grand Prix saw a record crowd for this last weekend of July, a first for the Spa-Francorchamps track which announces the summer break.

The Belgian Grand Prix was for the first time in a sprint format, which means that we had two races, the Sprint on Saturday afternoon and the Grand Prix this Sunday. And also for the first time, Belgium has been scheduled for the end of July, which announces the summer break when usually Spa-Francorchamps is synonymous with the start of the school year.

Record attendance at the Belgian Grand Prix

The F1 Grands Prix are events that bring together an ever-increasing number of spectators, two years after this pandemic period. In the past, the Grands Prix at Silverstone had attendances around 350,000 people, Mexico could also approach these figures there with 345,000 fans in the main stands and those of the Foro Sol stadium.

One of the first Grands Prix to break the symbolic barrier of 400,000 spectators over the whole race weekend was Austin in 2021. And Melbourne responded in 2022, after two years of absence due to the pandemic , raising this performance to nearly 420,000 fans. The race for record attendance was on, and Austin 2022 took that record to 330,000. And Melbourne 2023 again upped the benchmark with nearly 445,000 spectators.

But the absolute record returned to Silverstone this season, with 480,000 lovers of the discipline announced in the cradle of F1. Almost half a million fans, quite unbelievable. As for Spa-Francorchamps, the organizers announced today that 380,000 spectators had visited the circuit this weekend, with the ambition to welcome even more in 2024 and exceed the symbolic bar of 400,000 fans.
