The video of the attack on a septuagenarian and her granddaughter on Monday in Bordeaux (Gironde) by a marginal shocks social networks. Here is what we know about this case.
What happened ?
At the end of the afternoon on Monday, around 5:30 p.m., Cour de la Martinique in Bordeaux, a 73-year-old woman was filmed by the camera of a videophone on the steps of her house. Her 7-year-old granddaughter also appears. In the distance, on the sidewalk, a man seems to be interested in them.
When the little girl and her grandmother enter the home, the individual then approaches quickly and puts his foot in the door. He shoots then violently throws the two victims on the sidewalk. The two get up and the man walks away. According to the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office, which cites the statements of the grandmother, the man tried to kidnap the girl. It was the barking of the septuagenarian’s dog that would have scared the suspect away.
The victims suffer from abrasions and bruises. The septuagenarian was hospitalized but “her vital prognosis is not engaged”. She benefits from four days of ITT. A medical examiner will have to examine the victims in particular to assess the psychological consequences of the attack.
Who is the suspect?
“The video exploitation by the police and the statements of a witness allowed a very rapid arrest and the detention of a suspect”, indicated the prefect, who “denounces this intolerable act and hope that all the light will be shed as soon as possible”.
An hour after the attack, the man, known as a homeless man from the city center, used to the Grand Pars, was spotted on the Place de l’Europe. The suspect lies down on the ground during his arrest, a police source told TF1. But he refuses to climb into the car of the police crew, who had to use a taser to subdue him. He was placed in police custody for invasion of residence, attempted kidnapping and forcible confinement, assault on a vulnerable person.
According to our information, the man’s name is Brahima B. From a police source, “the defendant is French, born in France (in Bordeaux) in 1993”. The Bordeaux prosecutor’s office indicates that he is known to the courts with 15 convictions on his criminal record, in particular for traffic offenses and offenses against narcotics legislation. The man, under guardianship, would suffer from psychiatric disorders and indicated in police custody that he was out of care. According to Sud Ouest, he stole the grandmother’s neck chain.
