A fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Saturday June 10 at the Grands Pins campsite in Lacanau. The fire destroyed 400 m² of building area, including five bungalows. A victim disturbed by the fumes was hospitalized. The forest was not affected.
A fire broke out yesterday evening around 11 p.m. in a technical room at the Les Grands Pins campsite located in the town of Lacanau in the Médoc, a very wooded area. According to the emergency services, several buildings such as technical premises, sanitary facilities and housing were completely destroyed over 400 m², only 30 m² were spared.
During the duration of the intervention, all the occupants of the site were evacuated by prevention, nine people were inconvenienced by the fumes, one of the victims was transported to the Arès clinic.
About fifty firefighters intervened. “Two columns of firefighters from Porge and Carcans were dispatched to the scene to fight the fire quickly and ensure a return to normal as quickly as possible”, according to the municipality of Lacanau which posted information on its Facebook account.
For its part, the management of the establishment, Yelloh Village les Grands pins, communicated on social networks: Vacationers and campsite employees housed on site were brought to safety in peace during the time of the relief operations. They have now all been able to return to their accommodation. The firefighters are still on the site to secure the place and assess the material damage.
This Sunday morning, firefighters were still on site to clean up the site. The fire did not spread to the surrounding forest.
