The Ministry of the Interior spoke in the evening of this Friday, January 24, 2025 on the incident recorded in the Lafayette district in downtown Tunis.

In a statement, the ministry said that an individual set fire to his body and then went directly to a police officer. Another agent was forced to use his firearm to protect his colleague, who was seriously burned and transported to the hospital.

In this incident to other citizen who was near the premises was accidentally injured and transported to the hospital, where his condition is said to be stable, adds the same source.

The interior department added that the individual who set fire to his body and who died was identified and that the data indicated that the latter suffered from psychological disorders.
