Algeria Football– A spectacular incident occurred during the Algerian derby between USM Algiers (USMA) and Mouloudia Club d’Alger (MCA) at the 5-Juillet stadium. In the heart of this highly anticipated meeting, a fire broke out in the stands occupied by USMA supporters due to the use of pyrotechnic products, an unfortunately common phenomenon in Algerian stadiums.
The incident quickly attracted attention, with thick black smoke rising into the sky, causing a moment of panic in part of the stands. Civil Protection services, already mobilized for this type of event, reacted promptly. In less than a few minutes, firefighters managed to control the flames, thus preventing their spread and limiting material damage. No serious injuries were reported, thanks to the rapid intervention of the authorities on site.
This incident once again revives the debate on the use of pyrotechnic products in stadiums. Although these smoke bombs and fireworks are often used to create a festive atmosphere, their uncontrolled use represents a real danger, not only for supporters, but also for the structure of stadiums.
The Professional Football League (LFP) could consider sanctions against supporters or the club, in accordance with the regulations in force. Furthermore, the authorities regularly remind us that the introduction of these products into sports venues is strictly prohibited and punishable by heavy fines.
Despite this incident, the derby was able to continue after a short interruption, but it will remain marked by this event which recalls the security issues in Algerian stadiums. An investigation could be opened to determine the exact circumstances of this act and prevent future incidents.
