This year, for its 38e edition, the members of the jury for the Jean Freustié 2025 prize selected ten authors.

The selected works:

  • Thanatose, Frédéric Bécourt (Heliopolis)
  • The Circle of Obligations, Philippe Brunel (Grasset)
  • We’re the bad boy we can be, Nicolas Fargues (P.O.L)
  • From our wounds a kingdom, Gaëlle Josse (Buchet-Chastel)
  • Among other solitudes, Yves Harté (Le Cherche Midi)
  • A Perfect Collapse, Jerome Leroy (The Round Table)
  • Band of heroes, Philippe laughs (Ecuador)
  • So, Perrine Tripier (Gallimard)
  • llaria or the conquest of disobedience, Gabriella Zalapi (Zoe)

This list of ten works will be reduced to three finalists on February 27. The winner will be crowned a month later, and will succeed Mark Greenerecipient last year with his book Real Madrid (Plein Jour editions). With a reward of 25,000 euros, this prize is one of the best endowed in .

Created in 1987 to perpetuate the memory of the writer Jean Freustieit is awarded each year to a French-speaking author for a work in prose such as a novel, short story, autobiography or essay. To respect the “ tradition of introspective lucidity » which characterized the one to whom it owes its name – according to a press release – the prize essentially distinguishes an author who is not on the list of major autumn literary prizes.

For this 38e edition, the jury, chaired by Simonetta Greggio, is composed of Christian Authier, Dominique Barbéris, Franck Maubert, Olivier Mony, Henri-Hugues Lejeune, Anthony Palou, Eric Neuhoff, Yann Queffélec et Philippe Vilain.
