Coyle played with Boston University in the NCAA.
He tied the game 3-3 with 11:38 left in the third period with his first goal since Dec. 27, then broke the deadlock at 14:11.
Matthew Poitras was complicit in both cases.
David Pastrnak, Vinni Lettieri, Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm were the other scorers for the Bruins.
-Jonas Korpisalo made 25 saves for the Bruins, winning three times in their last four games.
Will Smith had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who were beaten by the Bruins for a 14e times in a row.
They haven’t won against Boston since 2016.
A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Smith was drafted fourth overall in 2023 after coming to Boston College.
Macklin Celebrini was shut out, although he led San Jose with four shots.
The former Boston University player was selected first overall last year.
Barclay Goodrow and Fabian Zetterlund scored the other goals for the Sharks, who have lost their last three games.
